Our Love Story

The Invisible String Theory

They say there’s an invisible string.

A thread that ties two souls together long before they ever meet.

You don’t see it.

You don’t feel it.

And then one day the string tightens.

And two people who were always meant to find each other… finally do.

This is a story about that string.

In early 2021,

Pearl had moved to Sacramento — a new city, a new job, and a quiet promise to herself: no dating, no distractions. Love was the last thing on her mind.

Then came Valentine’s Day.

Instead of dating apps or distractions, she sat alone in her room and prayed. She wrote a list on her notes app — everything she hoped to find in a partner one day — and asked God that when the time was right, he’d appear. No chasing. No timelines. Just trust.

A few weeks later, she joined a random Zoom meeting for work. And that’s when she saw him.

Niko.

He was all business — serious, focused, not one for small talk. Until, in passing, he mentioned something about Arkansas Razorbacks.

Pearl was surprised,

“Wait… you’re from Arkansas?”

It turned out he had gone to college just thirty minutes from where she grew up — yet somehow, they met for the first time hundreds of miles away, through a screen, in California.

Exactly one month later, Niko sent her an email.

He asked if she wanted to grab coffee and study for their licensing exams.

Pearl said yes — thinking it was nothing more than a simple excuse to leave the house and finally meet a coworker in person.

But that coffee date became the beginning of everything.

From the moment they sat down, the conversation flowed like they’d known each other in another life. It felt natural. Easy. Familiar in a way that couldn’t be explained. They had so much in common.

Still, Pearl kept her guard up. She never dated coworkers. And she wasn’t ready for anything serious. But something about Niko was different — kind, intentional, quietly thoughtful. He remembered the little things. He made her laugh, made her feel safe. Made her feel seen.

Time passed, and so did the seasons — until, a year later, Niko asked her to be his Valentine. And in that quiet, full-circle moment… she knew. He was everything she had written on that list. And the man she prayed for was standing right in front of her.

The Proposal

Exactly three years from the day they had their very first coffee date, Niko made dinner plans.

Or so Pearl thought.

What she didn’t know was that he had something else in mind.

Instead of heading to a restaurant, he brought her to the beach — one of their favorite places.

The sun was beginning to set.

A picnic was waiting. Her favorite foods.

A peaceful moment. Just the two of them.

And then, Niko got down on one knee…

and asked the question:

“Will you marry me?”

She happily said yes —

and in that moment,

the invisible string that had always tied them together

finally became a knot.
